Community Involvement
“Judge Ashleigh is passionate about educating our youth on the criminal justice system.”
Judge Ashleigh has served in multiple leadership roles for several years; however, she is most passionate about educating our youth on the criminal justice system. She is devoted to developing positive strategies to hopefully divert our youth from any future negative involvement in the juvenile and adult criminal system, which is why she co-founded the Capital City Lawyers Association Law Day. Since its inception in 2014, over 1,000 students in Wake County have had an opportunity to take a tour of the jail, interact with officers, attorneys, and judges, and participate in a mock trial. Additionally, Judge Ashleigh often speaks at local elementary, middle, and high schools across Wake County, at the Boys and Girls Club of Wake County, and at local churches. She has also served on numerous panels concerning the importance of bridging the relationship between the public and local law enforcement.
Judge Ashleigh strongly believes in mentorship within the legal community, and so she consistently volunteers to judge mock trial competitions, speak to law students about professionalism, teach attorneys continuing legal education courses, and assist students with internship and employment opportunities.
